I am so excited about beginning our homeschool curriculum next week. This will be my first year homeschooling Alana. She is going into second grade and I am confident that she is ready for this new experience. Many people have asked me why I am doing this, and my simple answer has been, "because it works for us." It has been a goal of mine for quite some time. My only regret is not following my heart and doing it much sooner. But, the good news is that it's never too late to get started and I believe that now is the time for us. I hope to keep everyone updated on our progress and will also use this blog to ask questions and for new ideas from my fellow homeschool moms. (this blog will also continue to serve for our family updates). Both me and Jim will be teaching Alana. I will teach Reading, Language, Spelling, Vocabulary and Math. Jim will be teaching American History and Science. Alana will also be taking voice and piano lessons. I have promised God, my family and myself that I will have an open mind, teachable spirit and hunger for new knowledge on a daily basis in order for this to be the best experience for Alana. Please keep us in your prayers as we begin this new and exciting journey. I would like to leave you with our scripture for the first week of school along with a picture of a couple of visuals that we will be using in our classroom. (I still have a lot to get done in the classroom before we begin next week.)
